Having a traditional name as one of the tourist centers, Kuala Lumpur now has become a familiar name for business activities too; it is now in pace with Singapore and Hong Kong with thriving developments in fields such as Finance, Information Technology, Footwear and Petroleum.
As part of my business improvement program, I planned a trip to Kuala Lumpur in the beginning of the New Year. Kuala Lumpur is in the western Malaysia, and about 60 miles inland from the coast. It hosts a mixture of Malay, Chinese and Indian heritages, and thus can be called as a land of mixed cuisine.
The flourishing business activities can be indirectly attributed to the growing tourism activities. Kuala Lumpur has been a hot destination for tourists from all over the world since time immemorial. The historical destinations of Kuala Lumpur had been my target spots while organizing my business expansion trip there.
The city is much cheaper compared to many other prominent cities of the world. The countless shops that sell many cheap items are the attractions of many shoppers. You can find exclusive Chinese showrooms that feature the Chinese items of various price ranges.
The restaurants here are plenty, and the Malays are very friendly. It looks like as if the restaurants are busy throughout the day. The population here does not give a rest to their stomach! However, I enjoyed a wonderful feast at many restaurants and relished all possible menus.
The city is known for its infrastructure, especially the tube transport. The city possesses a clean and sufficient supply of transport, yet the traffic here is too crowded because of the population.
I had located a good hotel through my travel agent. The Concorde Hotel is located in the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur. Surrounding the hotel are the business center and the major tourist attractions. I had an opportunity to visit the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) that is located at about 10-minutes drive from the hotel as part of my business plan. PWTC is an important place for organizing business activities such as international exhibitions, conventions, etc., and the personal functions such as weddings.
Merdeka Square is a historically important place that I did not want to miss during my trip to Kuala Lumpur. It occupied the first place in the history of Kuala Lumpur after the proclamation of independence here in 1957 and the hoisting of the Malayan flag, and since then it has been the hosting place for all National Day celebrations.
I was always fascinated by the archeological structures of the world, and I found this great opportunity to visit some of the buildings of historical interests. The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is one typical example of Victorian- Moorish architecture. Another important architecture, The Selangor Club, that reflects the ancient royal culture in the modern time, is located facing the Sultan Abdul Samad building.
Kuala Lumpur is an ideal destination for me as a business traveler or you as a tourist who wishes to spend the holidays in a memorable way.
