The Top Three in the Air

Here is a comparison of the few top airlines that offer their service throughout US.

American Airlines (AA)

American Airlines is world’s largest airlines in terms of the number of passengers and the fleet size. It is the second-largest airline in the world in terms of its revenue. Based at Dallas/Fort Worth and with additional hubs at Chicago, Miami, and San Juan, it caters the travel requisites of both domestic and international travelers. The international flights are offered to all continents and their important destinations.

The American is serving a total 157 cities with its fleet of 672 aircrafts. Dallas/Fort Worth is its largest hub with more than 84% of the flights operating from this source.

The AAdvantage program is known for its wider acceptability. The AAdvantage bonus miles are offered to the frequent flying members in American Airlines, American Connection, American Eagle or any of their 21 airline partners. Apart from the regular mileage earning, AA offers an additional 25% of flight mileage on Business Class travel and an additional 50% of flight mileage on First Class travel. There are other benefits offered from the AA business partners such as hotel and restaurants, car rental agencies, etc. AAdvantage is extended to non-frequent travelers too. They can avail the mileage benefits from the American’s retail and financial partners.  Travel awards are offered to the frequent flyers on achieving a specified target in AA flights.

US Airways

Owned by the US Airways Group Inc., US Airways has got the main hubs in Charlotte, N.C., Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. It is the low-cost airline that connects 240 destinations of North America, Central America, Caribbean, Hawaii and Europe with its fleet of 357 mainline jet aircrafts and 352 express aircrafts.

The US Airways offer a lot of incentives to travelers through its frequent traveler dividend programs. The travelers get extra benefits through its ‘Preferred Benefits’ program. The Preferred qualifying miles are offered in four categories, viz., silver, gold, platinum, and Chairman’s. The Preferred Benefits program has been known as the richest Frequent Flyer Programs in the world, and US Airways had been awarded for the Best Elite Program in three consecutive years, 2003, 2004 and 2005.

United Airlines

United Airlines offers its service to about 134 destinations in 27 countries. The main hubs of United are in Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. The airline’s largest operation center is at Elk Grove, near O’Hare International Airport, with 650 daily departures from it.

United Airlines offers a variety of traveler programs. The Senior Programs are offered for citizens above 55 years of age, and the United College Plus program is offered for college/ university students.  Both of these programs offer special benefits and services to these categories of travels, and so have achieved a lot of popularity among these travelers.

Other major participants in the US airways include the Southwest, Northwest, Frontier, Delta, and Continental. The quality of the services offered by all of these is matchless to their counterparts in the foreign countries. No doubt, these are the world’s best airlines too.
